At the end of each day Greg empties his rucksack all over the room. Today this behaviour caught up with him as he left his walking shorts and top at last nights hotel in Astorga. At last minute we were able to cancel a grotty hostel and went 4 star instead, for just £8 more. Beers, wine and dinner with the regulars we often high five at the destinations. We left in the dark, almost a bilking. Receptionist shouted out the door that we hadn’t paid! Whoops.
Even in the rain we identified targets (other pilgrims) to catch up and overtake. We are not being mega competitive, just this occupies the mind for a while. We darn’t put the EarPods in on a rainy day as the likelihood of falling over on the slippy stones significantly increases.
It turns out our boots are not waterproof in torrential rain and we walked 26km with soaking wet feet, luckily no blisters. Both of us experienced ‘soggy sock suck’ with each step. Not a great feeling. Luckily, no adverse outcomes, no blisters. There is no Greggles update as he has gone for a beer. We are struggling to book accommodation for Monday so will see if we end up on a church floor or not. Over the last few days hundreds of pilgrims have arrived either in France or in Leon (which we just passed) which is significantly higher numbers due to the Covid backlog π€π€π€π€

Hope your socks dry out OK and you have better weather tomorrow xx
Fabulous picture of you both. Your both doing so well. The 'soggy sock suck' sounds horrendous - but at least there are no leeches. Take care of yourselves - your in my prayers - and with love. xxx
Soggy sock suck sounds grim!!
Youβre both doing amazingly well though - I generally catch your updates from my super comfy sun bed next to the pool in Turkey.
Sorry
Not sorry!
