Pamplona to Puente la Reina, 24 km.
This was always going to be an emotional trip as it is the start of the next stage of my life. The views are amazing, the food is amazing and for €11 you can order a three course Pilgrim meal (with a large glass of decent wine) which was superb. This tiny town is simply beautiful. I find myself welling up at the slightest thing, but always out of overwhelming joy in the moment.
Having your life in a rucksack is a bit stressful to begin with as you have to be meticulous with your items and keeping things in order. Greg is flushing out his own emotional (and physical) system with lots of local beers and local wines. 🙄
The main theme of the day has been the heat at 34 degrees or more and no shade. Our first overnight in a proper pilgrim albergue for €35 and our very own private twin bunk room/cell.
